hello I'm least a lot 10th grade advisory teacher here in Arleta one of the things that makes our leader unique is our advisory program ever since the school open there has been great emphasis on the advisory program as a school both the administration and the teachers have had ongoing collaboration open Rich the program the program was designed to provide academic support college preparatory and career research every student reviews their eyes EP after each master and they are able to track their progress advisor teachers are mentors and it has a consistent class the students has the entire course of their High School the goal is to get our students to pass their classes and have the opportunity to attend a university or Community College weave that every student has the potential to go to college or trade school right after they graduate each year we create lessons and that additional resources to help our students succeed our goal over the past two years husband hung in on teaching the students how to have a growth mindset the emphasis is on self-advocacy distress tolerance and emotional regulation the teachers have been trained on the importance of social mode learning through professional development meetings support is provided so that all teachers are familiar with the lessons our hope is that our students will be better prepared to handle difficult situations they may encounter in in High School our goal is to help them become Advocates and self-directed Learners hi my name is Beverly advisory teacher here at Arleta High School from here to help students learn real-world knowledge so are you able to be self-sufficient when they are on their own the program goes over financial management how to build a resume and prepare for job interviews our senior advisory classes provide time and support for our students to sleep Dart financial aid forms college applications and personal statement an integral part of our advisory program is our graduation portfolio every student documents their growth and their progress towards our schools esler through their portfolio starting from 9th grade students gather work or artifacts and write a corresponding reflection citing evidence of their individual growth by the time our students become 12th graders and finalize our portfolio they represent their privalia to committee at their portfolio defense this final culminating activity is another step closer to graduating on stage hi my name is Emilio Faison Center High School in this to my graduation portfolio just artifact is a critical thinker from my graphic designs class I had to use the new skills learned from the Andy Warhol project high school and his my graduation volume I like to show you a artifact is how was the student of the month I was the best student of the month for the entire month of October I was a Roman on the leader entire class because I held my fellow classmates. And I did on my work hello my name is Carlos Chavez and I'm a senior at Arleta High School in this is my graduation to follow this artifact is a self-directed learner which is my college is this has helped me in many ways to direct subject myself towards college for example I applied to many csu's and UCS which where is UC Berkeley UCLA UC Irvine Cal State LA CSUN Cal State Bakersfield and I was trying to fit which college has the best major which is business artists like I will be directing you to is my flight to Communicator which is a college the reason I show my college application is because I demonstrated that I was effective Communicator by walking to myself through these applications hi my name is Leslie I'm a senior at Arleta high school I just want to be that to you to a my artifacts for my graduation portfolio my first artifact is my application for FAFSA I applied for FASFA as a part of my senior year plan fast as a financial aid its money from the government is given to people who are in need or in love come by three program relevance and relationships
