Arleta: Fire Drill
Dear Mustangs,
Final reminders for fire drill at 11:15a.m on Thursday, 08/22/2024:
Fire Drill:
This action provides protection if a school building or an adjacent area is burning.
Signal:(Most sites) Series of three and one half second (3½) pulses of electronic emergency horns, followed by a short pause; sequence repeats for at least three (3) minutes. For most fires, there is no Public Address (PA) system announcement.
For today, since activating the fire alarm will interfere with the Air Conditioner, a single bell will initiate the beginning of the drill followed by a PA announcement. When you hear a bell at 11:15a.m., please begin evacuating all budlings. Teachers are to take their students and rosters to the Assembly Area and report to their designated section. Students are to remain with their teacher at all times. Teachers need to close the classroom door when all the students have exited.
Fire Evacuation Procedures:
-
When the signal is given, form a single line outside the classroom (a double line may be used for large classes).
-
Check to see that everyone has exited the classroom. Teachers are to account for any students with a cognitive disability that may not have understood the directions.
-
Take the student roster and close all doors to prevent the spread of smoke or fire.
-
Walk quietly in single file to the Assembly Area
-
Form a single or double line in the designated section of the Assembly Area.
-
Take and report attendance.
-
Wait for the All-Clear PA announcement to end the drill. (students then wait for the bell to be dismissed to lunch).
EVERYONE must evacuate to the Football field. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping everyone safe in the event of a real emergency!
