Mr. Perez-Roman loves spending time with his wife, family and friends. He is a passionate educator, enjoys working with young adults and learning from them.

He was a girls and boys basketball coach at the Varsity and Junior Varsity levels.

He has sponsored many student clubs, including University and College Access Program (UCAP) and the Latino Club. Currently, he sponsors the Student Traveling Club, partners with Explore America and Education First to offer engaging learning/traveling opportunities for all his students. His most recent trips included Australia, New Zealand, Hawai'i, New York, and Washington, D.C. He has also taken students to the 2013 Presidential Inauguration, Spain, France, and Italy.

He likes to listen to a variety of music, especially while lesson planning and working out. Some of his favorite artists include Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Common, The Roots, Schoolboy Q, Rage Against the Machine, Tribe Called Quest, Wu Tang Clan, Dr. Dre, Jimmy Hendrix, The Beatles, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, and Santana.

Some of his hobbies include hiking, weight lifting, reading, playing basketball, Playstation3 (madden football), gardening and watching movies.

Mr. Perez-Roman also loves traveling. He has been to China, Italy, France, Puerto Vallarta (Mexico), Cabo San Lucas (Mexico), Guadalajara (Mexico), Nayarit (Mexico), Costa Rica, Germany, Holland, Spain, Turks and Caicos, Grand Cayman Island, up and down California, Hawaiian Islands (Maui, Kauai, Honolulu, the Big Island, and Oahu), Missouri, New York, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Texas, Virginia, Illinois, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. His latest journey was to Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii.

Mr. Perez-Roman is a National Board Certified teacher. He was named Teacher of the Year 2014-2015 by the Los Angeles Unified School District. He received a Bachelor of Art in Public Policy from Occidental College, where he was a James Irvine Scholar. He received his Teaching Credential and Masters of Education from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
