Well Being Center at Arleta HS

Hello Arleta Mustangs,

The Virtual WBC is getting ready to launch, virtually! With this launch we will be introducing some new programs and resources for students, in partnership with DMH, and PPLA. We will be rolling out the following programs and resources:

  • Department of Mental Health sessions with Adan Rodriguez (adrodriguez@dmh.lacounty.gov )
  • Planned Parenthood of LA can offer 3 in-class sessions via science classes or any other setting where they can present to students during class. I can connect the teachers who are interested with Erica Tarango ( education@pp-la.org ) (CLASSES: 1. sexuality, 2. relationships, 3. cannabis/vaping/alcohol)
  • Parent Education via Planned Parenthood Promotora - Juan Castillo-Alvarado and Laura Vargas are still available for Parent Education (virtually, of course)
  • The Public Health Task Force. This a task force for students, lead by four Infectious Disease Physicians and an Infectious Disease Health Educator. They will be presenting information and facilitating interactive activities to engage the students in the content. Application for the Task Force are due by 10/23 at 2pm for all students who are interested.

Information regarding these different programs is attached. Also attached is information and a flyer for the Teen Call Line, as well as flyers for both the Virtual Workshops and the Public Health Task Force. Could you please post this information on Schoology or whichever school-based platform you are using? It would be greatly appreciated! If you are interested in the Wellness Workshops or Virtual Education Sessions, please let me know.
