The public library has over 3,000 active volunteers throughout the library system's Central Library and 72 branches, in a variety of volunteer opportunities. Each location has different volunteer needs, so not all opportunities will be available at all locations. Please contact your local library for more information about volunteer opportunities.

All volunteers must complete a volunteer application. Adult volunteers working with children will be fingerprinted.

HIRE LA’s Youth and Mayor Eric Garcetti are committed to providing 10,000 summer jobs for young people ages 14-24 who live in the City of Los Angeles. Youth who complete the two-part Application Form will enter a lottery where randomly selected candidates will be invited to apply for the Summer Youth Employment Program [SYEP].
